Forget-Me-Not
Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans ~ And miss it each night and day ~ I know I'm not wrong, the feeling's getting stronger ~ The longer I stay away ~ Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans ~ When that's where you left your heart ~ And there's one thing more, I miss the one I care for ~ More than I miss New Orleans

I’m writing to share some information with you about an upcoming vote will affect funding for all public schools in New Orleans. On July 19th there will be four measures on the ballot to renew several millages (taxes) assessed in Orleans Parish that help fund public schools.
This vote does not introduce any new millages, it simply reinstates millages that currently exist. These millages translate into about $1000 per student – so if they do not pass, we will have about $1000 less dollars per student to spend next year.
I’ll let you make up your mind about how you want to vote, but I do want to encourage you to get out and vote. Please pass on the word to others to remind them to vote as well.
If you are not yet registered to vote in Louisiana, please do so soon. For information about how to register to vote, please follow this link: http://www.sos.louisiana.gov/tabid/457/Default.aspx.
Please note that in Louisiana you must be registered to vote at least 30 days before an election, so to be eligible to vote on July 19th, you’ll need to register by June 19th.
