Just what else is our government hiding from us?

NOVA: Storm that Drowned a City, The Man Who Knew

VAN HEERDEN: The federal government's involvement in Katrina was disgustingly slow. It was unbelievable, especially because we'd done the Hurricane Pam exercise and I had even briefed White House officials.

Pre-Katrina, LSU Hurricane expert, Ivor Van Heerden, predicted the devastation to our area should a storm strike.

Even on August 29, 2005 ~ the day Katrina came ashore:

“We’re talking about in essence having — in the continental United States — having a refugee camp of a million people,” van Heerden said. In a few days, van Heerden predicts, emergency management officials are going to be wondering how to handle a giant stagnant pond contaminated with building debris, coffins, sewage and other hazardous materials.

“We’re talking about an incredible environmental disaster,” van Heerden said. He puts much of the blame for New Orleans’ dire situation on the very levee system that is designed to protect southern Louisiana from Mississippi River floods.

After the storm, Van Heerden was pivotal in getting the Corps of Engineers to take responsibility for the levee failure and flooding that killed over a thousand, and that continues to devastate lives:

"On June 1, 2006, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers -- the agency that built them -- stood up and took total blame for the failure of the New Orleans levee system during Hurricane Katrina. The failed levees were considered largely responsible for the catastrophic flooding that left 80 percent of the city underwater. Since making its first-ever admission of design deficiency, the U.S. Corps has poured its heart, soul and billions of dollars into the repair and improvement of the New Orleans levee and flood control system."

(Please note that it took them $19.7 MILLION to produce the report . . . )

Today it was revealed, via a phone interview with WWL's Garland Robinette, that Van Heerden has been relieved of many of his duties by LSU, including no longer being able to teach classes, stating that, "They" told him that federal funding to the university was in jeopardy.

What has happened to this country? I've never been one to buy into conspiracy theories, but something smells awfully fishy here. Roswell, Marilyn Monroe, JFK ~ all pale in comparison to this doozy of a coverup they are attempting. Special place in hell . . . right alongside the insurance adjustors . . .
