Viva Italia!

This weekend we celebrate Italy! The boys drew flags, the Coliseum in Rome, Gondoliers in Venice, and Italian flags. Hayden even colored the Mona Lisa! We set up the table Italian Restaurant style - complete with red and white checked tablecloth, and a small candle and everyone made their own personal pizzas.

Here are some more pictures of our pizza making.

Kneeding and spreading the dough . . . You'll see our choice of toppings includes the usuals: sauce, mozarella, pepperoni, anchovies - but we also have roasted garlic spread, chorizo, carmelized red onion, and where would Owen be without ketchup and chicken . . . I am not kidding! That's how he wanted to top his pizza!

Hayden went with the more traditional sauce, pepperoni and cheese and as he carefully placed each pepperoni he'd let out a "BAM!" a la Emeril. We really had a great time, and a great dinner followed with pistachio ice cream for dessert.

We've decided that every Saturday is "International Night" since the boys really enjoy it! It has really made Owen more adventurous about trying new foods, and the boys enjoy the day's preparation where we look at maps and talk about language and culture. We listen to traditional music and try to add a local flavor to it all. It's really been enriching for them, but most of all ~ a lot of fun!

Next week is Hayden's pick and he's decided on: France!

Here are some more pictures. ENJOY!
